Announcing the Cypher Stream Creator Fund Recipients!

We here at Monte Cook Games are pleased to announce the recipients of the Cypher Stream Creator Fund. It was a difficult choice, but we’ve selected ten creators from the dozens of excellent applicants. Each of the ten will receive a $500 sponsorship for the creation of streamed programming related to MCG’s games.

We announced the Cypher Stream Creator Fund in July, with the intent of supporting small or new streams by helping provide resources to solve technical problems, pay participants, or market their shows. The fund offers a $500 grant, plus promotional assistance from MCG, to selected creators. Applications opened in August, and closed earlier this month.

Programs sponsored through the CSCF will stream via The Anywhere Door, Monte Cook Games’s realm on the forthcoming Moonbeam streaming and community platform. (The creators may also choose to simultaneously stream as well as post their content later on other platforms such as Twitch and YouTube). The programs will launch in the first half of 2025. Some will run as limited series, while others intend to continue as regular programming indefinitely.

The Cypher Stream Creator Fund recipients, like the applicants in general, represent a variety of program types focused on a range of MCG games:

  • The Arcane Corps (submitted by Ambrose Smith-Edwards), an actual play using The Magnus Archives Roleplaying Game.
  • Cypher+ (submitted by Luis Sala), featuring analysis of a variety of MCG games.
  • Cypher Lab (submitted by Jason Campbell), focusing on creating for the Cypher System for your own use and publication under the Cypher System Open License.
  • A sequel to Empyrean (submitted by Rising Evi Whitten), an actual play using the Cypher System.
  • The Mystic Observer (submitted by Chase Maldonado), an actual play using The Magnus Archives Roleplaying Game.
  • Promised Monkey Presents (submitted by Scott Robinson), a workshop for creating game elements for MCG settings.
  • Secrets of the Actuality (submitted by Valiant Dorian), a deep dive into Invisible Sun lore.
  • Tender (submitted by Kat Harden), an actual play using the Cypher System.
  • To the End of Reckoning (submitted by Treavor Bettis), an actual play using Invisible Sun.
  • Witch’s Road (submitted by Vixie Vivian Orozco), an actual play using the Cypher System.

(The program names are tentative.)

The Moonbeam platform, and The Anywhere Door realm, open to alpha users in December and the broader public in early 2025. CSCF recipients will begin their streams after Moonbeam opens to the public.

It was difficult limiting our choices to just ten, and many of the proposed streams that weren’t selected still impressed us with their creativity and vision. We’ve extended approved streamer status to many of those creators, inviting them to stream in The Anywhere Door realm—so hopefully we’ll see some of their creations as well!

We can’t wait to see what all of these wonderful creators have to show us!
