About two weeks ago, Shanna and I wrapped up our ULTIMATE RETAILER tour in Asheville, NC. Asheville is a beautiful city, and Wyvern’s Tale is an amazing store. It’s a two-story building (a beautifully renovated old house, actually) with lots of retail space on the first floor, and four rooms above for gaming and special events.
One of the things that really impressed me about the Wyvern’s Tale is its emphasis on RPGs. There’s a whole room on the first floor dedicated to them, with hundreds of titles shelved face-out. This is not a place that relegates roleplaying games to the back shelves by any means! The staff is attentive, professional, and very nice.
In our event, we gave a presentation which turned into mainly a question and answer session. I was pleased that so many people there were already Numenera fans and players. The questions were insightful and knowledgeable.
After a short break, Shanna and I each ran a game of Numenera. I ended up running a game with seven players, accomplished only because one of the players brought his own character (I had six pre-gens with me). It was a very fun session.

I highly recommend a visit to the Wyvern’s Tale. It’s a great store, and certainly deserving of the title, “Ultimate Retailer.”
